Insider Tip
“The only golf course in the Great Barrier Reef presents a multitude of challenges for players of all skill levels. I’ve never lost more balls on a course in my life. Missed fairway—ball gone. Over the green—ball gone. Didn’t clear the gulley—ball gone. However, when you get to the 13th fairway and see nothing but 360 degrees of ocean surrounding you, you won’t care one bit about the lost Callaways.
The only things on the island are this golf course, the clubhouse, and the superintendent’s shack. Make sure you build time in at the clubhouse for a great lunch or dinner.”

Vice President & Director of International Operations
Play
Perfectly located at the edge of the Great Barrier Reef, the Hamilton Island Golf Club has some of the most spectacular views of any golf course in the world. The island’s natural and rugged beauty, together with its mountainous terrain, affords stunning 360° views across secluded coves and beaches to adjacent islands and the mainland beyond.
Golf champion Peter Thomson designed this course to challenge all levels of golf enthusiasts, from casual players to professionals. The course is designed as a series of holes strung along ridges and played across steep valleys.
Changes in course elevation, restricted landing areas and ever-present breezes provide a definite challenge from the back tees and enjoyable resort golf from the forward marks.
