Wine to Wildlife Australia Vacation Package
We planned this Wine to Wildlife Australia Vacation Package for empty nesters from Seattle. This was their first vacation without their kids for many years. They love wine and wildlife, so we put together this trip covering Victoria and South Australia, some of the best areas for wine and wildlife.
They started their Wine to Wildlife Australia Vacation Package in Melbourne, a vibrant, multicultural city known for its bustling arts scene, diverse food culture, and beautiful blend of historic and modern architecture. Often called the coffee capital of Australia, Melbourne also boasts stunning parks, a lively waterfront, and close proximity to natural attractions like the Great Ocean Road. The couple did a private city walking tour of the neighborhoods of Melbourne. And of course, spend a full day in the Yarra Valley tasting some of the local wines.
Next, they picked up their rental car and started off to Mornington Peninsula. Along the way they stopped at Moonlit Sanctuary for a Wombat Experience, which is a unique opportunity to get up close with these charming marsupials, learn about their behaviors and even get a chance to pet or feed them in a natural, relaxed setting. They then continued onto Mornington Peninsula. The spent two nights in the area and did a private food and wine tour of the area.
From there they continued their Wine to Wildlife Australia Vacation Package to the ferry and they sailed to Queenscliff, where they picked up the Great Ocean Road. They made stops along the way at Cape Otway and other rock formations like Loch Ard Gorge. They spent one night in Port Campbell and even did a helicopter over London Bridge and Twelve Apostles.
The couple then continued to Mount Gambier and the Limestone Coast. There they spent two nights and did their Coonawarra Experience, an unforgettable day of exploration, combining world-class wine tasting, stunning natural landmarks, and wildlife encounters. They traveled through the famous Coonawarra wine region, savoring premium Cabernet Sauvignon wines at renowned cellar doors, then headed to the region’s remarkable caves for a guided tour of its unique limestone formations. The tour also includes a chance to observe kangaroos and other native wildlife in their natural habitat, making it the perfect blend of adventure, nature, and fine wine.
Next they drove to Adelaide where they spent two nights in the city. And enjoyed a wine tasting tour in the Adelaide Hills area.
From there they flew to the famous Kangaroo Island and spent 3 nights at Sea Dragon. The lodge offered them a range of activities, including guided wildlife tours, kayaking, and eco-friendly hikes, allowing them to immerse themselves in the island’s stunning natural beauty. The resort provided a luxurious, sustainable retreat with modern accommodations, perfect for relaxing and enjoying breathtaking views of the coastline and diverse wildlife.
Next on their Wine to Wildlife Australia Vacation Package, they took the ferry back to Adelaide and did a city highlights tour of the city. And then boarded their flight to Sydney for the last stop on their journey.
In Sydney, they spent three nights enjoying the city’s sights and sounds, AND food. They took a private wine tasting tour of the Hunter Valley, and enjoyed a Long Lunch cruise in the harbour.
At last, their Wine to Wildlife Australia Vacation Package had come to an end and they flew home.
